It’s all about comfort – and detail
There are two reasons why so-called “Scandinavian style” fashion is becoming increasingly popular – it looks very cooly understated and it’s comfortable, according to a recent article on The Frisky website.
The author, Danielle Granger, is undeniably a fan of the look that’s rapidly gaining popularity.
“…Scandinavian style today still maintains the essential elements of casual and easy styling, which makes it extremely easy to integrate into your day to day wardrobe.”
Monochrome and fine detail
Keeping it simple is the most important aspect says the article. Dressing down rather than up is the focus. Monochrome is often the way, but a limited light neutral colour palette can work just as well.
There’s a particular trick with the accessories suggests Danielle – and we agree wholeheartedly.
“Add accessories such as belts and scarves that are a few hues darker than your main outfit to complement your final look.”
…and don’t forget those stylish, but comfortable shoes, she adds.
Strong Scandinavian women have been a feature of some very high quality Scandi dramas in recent years, many of whom, like Sofie Gråbøl in The Killing* and Sofia Helin star of The Bridge have become increasingly influential for UK audiences.
*We’re not suggesting that Sarah Lund’s Faroe Islands sweater is really the thing at this time of year of course… LOL
